UPDATE, 1/4/24, 5:50 p.m. — An autopsy was done on the human remains and ruled it as a killing.

Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.

Anyone with information is asked to call (202) 727-9099. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of those involved.


WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said it was investigating a death in Southwest D.C. on Wednesday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Canal St. in Southwest for a death investigation.

According to DC News Now crews, there were about a dozen officers on the scene investigating.

Canal Street SW was blocked off between P and O streets.

The scene was about 3 blocks west of Nationals Park and just a block or two away from the quadruple shooting that happened right before the holidays.

Police told DC News Now that as of 1:15 p.m., investigators were still reviewing the body for trauma and working to determine how long the body had been there. It was not yet clear whether or not it was a homicide.
